A CIVIVI pocket knife can represent incredible value. Affordably priced but made with high-end steels and scale materials, while offering a unique balance of modern and traditional profiles, the brand is one of the most coveted in the knife industry right now – at least in the segment of the market that deals with mass-produced rather than handmade, custom knives.
So, if you’re looking for a new CIVIVI, you could do a lot worse than one of the following.
The Elementum
The CIVIVI Elementum is without a doubt the definitive CIVIVI pocket knife. Available in multiple configurations, blade steels, scale materials and colors, there are also Elementum models that sport a button lock in addition to the conventional liner lock.
Sized just right for EDC and with a practical and no-nonsense drop point, it’s a basic but high-performance knife that won’t steer you wrong.
There’s even a fixed blade version of the Elementum if you’re looking for that rather than a pocket knife.
The Altus
The CIVIVI Altus is another great option among CIVIVI pocket knives. Similar in size to the Elementum but with slightly more refined ergonomics, the Altus is available with G10, Micarta, aluminum and even Cuibortia wood scales, and several different blade steels, including ultra corrosion-resistant nitro-v are available.
The Conspirator
Like the Altus, but thinking you might prefer a CIVIVI pocket knife with a flipper mechanism and a slightly bigger profile? Make it a CIVIVI Conspirator.
The flagship has Micarta scales and a nitro-v blade, but in place of the thumb studs, there’s a flipper mechanism. It’s also made with a button lock, which is not only strong, easy and intuitive to use, but safer than conventional liner locks.
The Baklash
Need a budget-friendly CIVIVI pocket knife? Get a CIVIVI Baklash with a 9Cr18MoV blade. This steel, though not offering the same level of durability, corrosion resistance and edge retention as many of the other alloys CIVIVI routinely uses, is still excellent in its price class.
Plus, the lines and profile of the Baklash are quite unique and memorable, without losing too much in terms of ergonomics.
The Vision FG
There are two great things to love about the CIVIVI Vision FG. One is the blade profile, and the other is the lock mechanism.
First, let’s cover the blade profile. It’s a sheepsfoot (CIVIVI calls it a reverse tanto, but it doesn’t matter, the effect is the same) which has an extremely strong, durable point, and which can handle pretty hard use. It’s available in a few different configurations and nitro-v, which has already been mentioned, is one of them.
The other thing you won’t be able to help but love is the so-called “super” lock, which consists of a backspacer that wedges against the back of the knife, holding it open.
This lock type is remarkably strong, very reliable, and quite safe, as it can be opened and closed without putting your fingers in the way of the blade’s path when closing.
The Baby Banter
Love the WE Knife Company Banter, but want it in a smaller package that’s friendly to small pockets and EDC?
Get a CIVIVI Baby Banter, which preserves basically everything ergonomically and from a design perspective that the original offers, minus the dimensions.
